Who are we?
We're building the savings bank for Norway – for people, local communities and the future.
As a savings bank, we contribute to growth and community wherever our customers live, and wherever we belong. We support everything from big ideas to small dreams. That's how we introduce ourselves on our website. This is us in a nutshell.
Sparebanken Norge is the country's largest savings bank, headquartered in Bergen and Kristiansand. As of 2025, we have around 1,600 employees at Sparebanken Norge.
In short
- The country's largest savings bank, headquartered in Bergen and Kristiansand
- Around 1,600 employees (2025)
- 60% owned by customers and the community through the savings bank model
- Formed in May 2025 through the merger of Sparebanken Sør and Sparebanken Vest
- Over 200 years of history in both Sørlandet and Vestlandet
Owned by customers and the community
Sparebanken Norge is the result of the merger between Sparebanken Sør and Sparebanken Vest in May 2025. The bank is built around the savings bank model, a 200-year-old idea, meaning that our customers and the community own roughly 60 percent of the bank.
As a savings bank, we are owned by the community and are committed to contributing to the development of the region. We share our profits with customers and society: customer dividends go to our customers, and community dividends support volunteer work and worthwhile projects that advance the green transition, promote inclusion and sustain vibrant local communities.
Two centuries of experience
In 2024, we celebrated our 200th anniversary as Sparebanken Sør, while Sparebanken Vest marked its 200th anniversary the year before, in 2023. We have, in other words, been part of Sørlandet and Vestlandet for more than 200 years. We know our customers, the region, the local communities and the business community.
Today, Sparebanken Norge is a knowledge- and technology-driven company. Traditional banking expertise is complemented by technologists, lawyers, analysts, marketers and a range of other professional disciplines.
Benefits and social initiatives
Our employees are our most important resource, and a good working environment is essential for everyone to thrive and perform well. We offer great benefits, a range of social initiatives, and a strong focus on career development and internal skills-building.
Diversity
In 2018, we became the first bank to be certified in equality and diversity – and were re-certified in 2022. Through the pilot project "Likestilt arbeidsliv" (Equal Working Life), we have put concrete shape to how we work on this.
Sustainability and social responsibility
Our sustainability policy is built on responsible business practices, environmental awareness and social responsibility. We follow the principles of the UN Global Compact and are working toward net-zero emissions.
Working with us
Sparebanken Norge is committed to fostering growth and community wherever our customers live, and wherever we belong. We support everything from big ideas to small dreams, and continue to share our profits with customers and society – just as Sparebanken Vest and Sparebanken Sør have done for more than 200 years.
We are proud to score very highly in employee surveys. With us, you'll find a safe and positive working environment, internal development opportunities, and colleagues with great dedication and heart for our customers, the bank and the region.
