Privacy statement
Last updated
This statement explains what information regionlister.no processes about you when you visit the website, why, and what your rights are.
In short
- The website sets no cookies and has no log-in or forms.
- We count visits anonymously. Your IP address is not stored or passed on, and the counting cannot recognise you from one day to the next.
- When you look at a map, your browser fetches it from Mapbox, which then receives your IP address.
- Signing up, logging in and messaging the local guides happen in Freysta Portal, not here. The Portal has its own privacy statement.
Who is responsible
Lister Næringsforening (org. no. 928 975 428), Stasjonsgata 28, 4580 Lyngdal, Norway, is the controller for regionlister.no. Freysta AS develops and operates the website on behalf of Lister Næringsforening, and processes the information on its behalf.
Questions about privacy can be sent to post@listernaeringsforening.no.
Counting visits
We count how the pages are used, to know which content is useful and whether the website reaches people. The counting is designed so that it cannot follow you:
- No cookies and no ID. Nothing is stored in your browser for the counting.
- Your IP address is not stored or passed on. Our server turns it into a code that is valid for the same day only. The key that creates the code changes every night and is not stored. The code is used only to stop anyone from inflating the numbers, and it does not appear in any report.
- What is counted:
- which page was shown
- how far down the page you scrolled (25, 50, 75 or 100 per cent)
- which website you came from. The address is cut to the website’s name on our own server, so search terms and the pages you came from never leave it
- whether you opened a job listing
- whether you clicked a link to another website, and to which website (the name only)
- whether you came from an AI service that labels its links (for example
utm_source=chatgpt.com) - whether the link you came from had a campaign code (see below)
- What is not counted: search terms, what you type, where you are, or who you are.
- Your browser’s description of itself (user agent) is used only to tell mobile, tablet and computer apart, and is not stored.
The campaign code. A link we share, for example in an advertisement or on a poster, can carry a code in the address (?k=…). The code refers to a channel or a placement, never to a person. A code we do not recognise is discarded. The code is removed from the address bar after the first page load, so it does not follow along if you share the page.
The numbers are processed in Freysta Publisering, which Freysta AS operates. Only totals per day and per hour are stored there, without any ID, IP address or browser description. Individual visits are not stored. The totals are kept for as long as Freysta operates the website for Lister Næringsforening, and are deleted when the agreement ends.
The legal basis is our legitimate interest in measuring how the website is used (General Data Protection Regulation, Article 6(1)(f)). Nothing is stored on your device for the counting, so consent is not required under the Norwegian Electronic Communications Act.
What is stored in your browser
The website stores a few settings in your browser’s local storage (localStorage). None of them are sent to us, and you can delete them in your browser at any time.

Maps (Mapbox)
The maps are provided by Mapbox Inc. in the USA. When a map is shown, your browser fetches map data directly from Mapbox. Mapbox then receives your IP address and information about your browser, and records that the map was loaded, among other things for billing. The map is loaded only when you scroll down to it.
We do not use your location. The maps show fixed places.
Mapbox is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, and the transfer to the USA is based on the European Commission’s decision that such companies provide adequate protection. Read more in Mapbox’s privacy policy.
Other services your browser fetches from
The video on the page about Liknes comes from YouTube. It loads only when you press play, and then from YouTube’s version without cookies (youtube-nocookie.com). Before that, the page does not contact YouTube. YouTube is owned by Google, which is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
All other images, videos, fonts and scripts are served from our own server. The images in the stories and the videos on the company pages are stored with Sanity, but our server fetches them from there, so Sanity never receives your IP address.
Operations and security
- The website runs through Cloudflare, which protects against attacks and delivers content faster. Cloudflare processes your IP address to do this. Cloudflare is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, and the transfer to the USA is based on the European Commission’s decision that such companies provide adequate protection. If the certification lapses, Cloudflare uses the EU standard contractual clauses.
- The server is hosted by Hetzner in Helsinki, Finland.
- The server does not log who visits the pages. Technical error logs do not contain IP addresses.
- When a page fetches content from Freysta Portal (services, questions and answers, employers on the place pages), neither your IP address nor your browser description is passed on to the Portal.
Links to Freysta Portal
When you sign up, log in or send a message to a local guide, you go to Freysta Portal. It is a separate service with its own privacy statement. Freysta AS is responsible for your account and profile there, and Lister Næringsforening for your dialogue with the local guides. Regionlister.no receives no information about you from there. We only learn how many people signed up via regionlister.no, as a total.
Jobs from NAV
The job listings come from NAV Arbeidsplassen and are shown as the employer wrote them. They may contain the name and phone number of the employer’s contact person. Listings are removed when they expire. Questions about a listing should go to the employer or to NAV.
People mentioned on the website
The website shows names, photos and contact details of the local guides and of contact persons in the municipalities. They are shown in their role, and the basis is our legitimate interest in letting newcomers know whom they can contact. The information is removed when the role ends.
The people in the stories have been interviewed and have consented to the story and the photos being published. If you withdraw your consent, we correct or remove the story.
If you want something about you corrected or removed, contact post@listernaeringsforening.no.
Your rights
You have the right to access information about you, and to have it corrected or deleted. You can also object to processing based on legitimate interest. The visit counting cannot be linked to you, so it holds no information about you to give access to.
Contact post@listernaeringsforening.no. If you believe we process information in breach of the rules, you can complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority, Datatilsynet.
