Our mission to society
As the local governing authority, we are to provide good services, manage society's resources and contribute to local community development.
With the slogan "We want to, we dare to", the municipality aims to reflect a culture marked by drive and courage. Lyngdal municipality's identity is that of a forward-leaning and bold municipality, one that values community and continuous improvement.
Our activities are shaped primarily at the intersection of local self-governance and service delivery. The task is not just to deliver services, but to ensure that important decisions are made as close to residents as possible, by people who know the local community and its needs.
The organization is governed politically according to the executive committee model, where the municipal council, as the highest body, adopts goals, plans, budgets and financial frameworks. Day-to-day administrative management is responsible for putting political decisions into action and ensuring sound operation of the entire organization.

A merged municipality with great diversity
Following the merger with Audnedal in 2020, Lyngdal now stretches around 80 kilometers, from Korshavn in the south to Sveindal in the north, encompassing both coastal areas and inland regions. As a result, the municipality consists of many different local communities with varying needs.
This means the municipality must provide services to residents living both centrally and in more scattered areas. At the same time, it offers a broad foundation for business, agriculture, outdoor recreation and tourism.
We are committed to providing services that reflect the diversity within the municipality – and in Norway as a whole.
