From technology to people

Baring uses what's known as New-Søderberg technology and works closely with the company OPTIRAS, which supplies the processing equipment. The project is also supported academically by the University of Agder (UiA). This provides both technological strength and the opportunity for in-house skills development.

"We have skilled people, and it feels like we've only scratched the surface of what this industry can become," says Sævareid. "Many of our employees are young and passionate about sustainable food production."

The company currently has around 10 employees, including a department in Kristiansand. All employees are closely involved in building up both the operations and the culture. Great emphasis is placed on team-building and collaboration, and on creating an inclusive and safe environment for everyone.

Building more than jobs

Sustainability is central to Baring's philosophy — not just environmentally, but socially and economically as well. The company collaborates locally, buys locally whenever possible, and aims to contribute positive ripple effects in the local community.

Want to work with us?

Baring offers apprenticeship certificates and trainee positions, and employees who want to specialize can also receive support for further education. The company has already tried recruiting apprentices locally, and in the long run hopes to open its doors for school visits and outreach to young people about the field.

"We see enormous potential in this field, and anyone who wants to contribute ideas and effort will have every opportunity to grow here with us."

Recruitment currently happens through FINN, LinkedIn and NAV, and work is underway to become even more visible to both young talents and experienced professionals.

"We've already held an open day for employees and their families, and we want to strengthen our social offerings as we grow. It's important to us to build a workplace people want to stay at — and be proud of."
